Spotted these two while I was having a browse earlier and thought more people need to see them!

I also wondered if you owned such an instrument, would you play it or look at it?

It's an old idea. Ibanez and Aria both offered Strat copies with dragons carved into them in the '70s.

i'd play 'em, no question. that said: they're both fretted so i'd want the fretless versions --- i'd rock 'em!

It seems to me wood carvers have a totally different idea of an acceptable finish than guitar builders.

Imagine all the money you’d save never having to date! You’d be able to buy a lot of cool gear. These are the sweatpants of basses.

I agree the black isn't well-applied, but at least part of the "relicing" actually looks like it's feathers falling off the phoenix (not just random gouges)

I know a guy that had one of the PRS dragon guitars. I think it was something like $30k. When he sold it, he took it in-person to on a plane to St Louis.

Those are cool, but the necks and headstocks don’t fit for me.

Hands down, the coolest custom carved axe ever made is the Alembic “Love Giver” that was custom ordered for Jack Black to match a guitar he played in a video game.

I wouldn't own either — those basses just aren't my aesthetic.
