EBMM DarkRay: 5-String now available, plus new finishes

Sounds pretty cool to me. Perhaps a little "crispier" on top? Almost as if the darkglass treble knob is set to a higher frequency.

FYI if you're interested in the Starry Night Darkray 5, Musicians Friend has one in stock and I was able to get a 15% discount through chat. I didn't buy it because I want the White Sparkle (which they don't have), so it's probably still available.
Yes, the White Sparkle looks great but is only available online (EBMM Vault).
I'm tempted but man EBMM can't get seem to get their 5'er necks aligned. Even the MF's brand new stock photo, that G string is barely hanging onto the fretboard. I've already bought and returned 2 stingrays because the G string was pretty much unplayable.
I've heard that complaint a lot but I've never had that issue. I have an SR 5, Special 5, BFR 5, and the 30th Anniversary 5 string and the G string seems to be ok on all of them. Not trying to discount your experience, either I've gotten extremely lucky or I'm just used to it. As long as they have a good return policy it might be worth taking a shot.
Of course I say all that and watch this white sparkle darkray I ordered have that issue, lol.
Well I just bought one off the EB site in white. I’ve owned a SR5 special since they came out, love it, love the alpha omega pedal and that color combo in white/black did me in. I’ll post when I get it.

Yes it was! I did not expect that. I ordered the same day this thread was posted, shipped Thurs and was here Friday. SLO is close so that may have helped.
I have an old Iphone (a 6) and it's pretty shotty for vids right now. I will say that the tones on this bass are a game changer. I am really digging the Omega (blue) blended in just enough to enhance the pick attack in the mix. (I am going thru headphones into a practice amp with an AUX cable from my phone to practice my band set).
I've never seen one of these in person prior but I will say it could be a game over bass for hard rock pick playing.
Just got my fiver and it's kind of noisy, might be some grounding issues. Is anyone else experiencing that?
I've not noticed issues with my 4. EBMM customer service is very receptive and should be able to assist. I'd send them an email.
Yea I emailed them, they're very responsive and said I could send it back for them to look at and they'd make it a priority. Just sucks I'd need to wait another 2 weeks (I'm on the other side of the country) to have working bass. The more I've played with it... it's definitely a grounding/shielding issue with the bass. I took the the PG off and checked things out, nothing looks abnormal but I really don't know what I'm looking at lol. The bridge ground wire was attached so I dunno. I have a local tech that works on all my basses, I might have him look at it first, if it's a cheap fix whatever I'll have him do it.
Besides that issue the bass is fantastic, the build quality as always is amazing and the white sparkle looks so good in person. Honestly I don't care that much about the dark glass stuff, but I don't use the selector switch on my other rays so really it's just a bonus.
Kind of a bummer considering how much these basses cost....

You may eventually find more usage for the drive channels. I was using the Alpha (red) mode at my band practice yesterday and it was spicing up the pick attack and presence in the mix in such a good way. Lots of compliments from my bandmates on the tone and I was only using it subtly. We play hard rock similar to Fu Manchu or The Toadies.
