EBMM Music Man Basses...why so much $?

EBMM are not more expensive than other USA made basses.

= Stingray price is around $1,500
= Fender MIA Deluxe $ 1,750,
= American Standard $ 1,350, add a preamp and it will cost you the same as the SR.
= Rickenbackers $ 1,800
= Gibson SG $ 1,500, Thunderbird $2,100

Buy used , you will save alot or consider to get one from their budget line: MIM Classics, American Special, SterlingRay, all of them good basses.

So, my $200 30 year old Cort Jazz bass copy that I learned on is now worth big money? How much do you think I could get for this "vintage" instrument? Do I hear $1200?

Just because it's vintage doesn't make it worth more. Vintage implies age more so than worth. When I bought my 1963 P bass in 1993ish. It was vintage because of the age of it, not because it was worth more then than it was new.

Apples and oranges. Vintage Music Man basses do appreciate in value. Corts, not so much. The point was, basses from the late 80s are now 25+ years old, and the early 90s Stingray that started this discussion will be there soon. That qualifies as vintage for most people. I have a great 1983 P bass -- I never think of it as "vintage" but it's over 30 years old. Time flies.

Coming late to the party so someone may have already said this. Things are worth exactly what someone will pay for them. Not a penny more and not a penny less.

If you don't like the price of an item, keep walking. If enough people walk, the price will come down.

Wages in 1990 are $28k, equivalent to $50k in 2014.

According to your own numbers wages today are $46k.

That clearly indicates wages did not keep up with inflation, hence, why I said it appears stagnant to me.

(INB4 Frenchie-Lefty says %1) :D

I've rounded the figures off. Wages have more than kept up with inflation. And when you consider the increase in employee benefits, it has exceeded the pace of inflation.
