Yes Keko trust me it's a one off but I'm calling ebmm today to try to convince em otherwise and I've prepared a case against this travesty
1. The ad did the final product no justice
2. To ask people to fork over 2k sight unseen is a risk to many
3. Most assumed upon release these would be available for purchase at the pdns so it was not clear a preorder was required, how could we know the reflex hh5 wouldn't be?
4. All other models/configs have multiple available now
5. To one off your best flagship model, the only one with a series parallel option is a shame
6. This edition means more on a reflex due to no ugly pick guard to cover it up
7. The other models have many translucent models, multiple colors available now new and used while the reflex has just black white yellow and honey burst which don't come close to this
8. Personally it's impossible to buy a regular reflex after seeing this, for 2k I don't want to settle
9. Maybe we can round up a few more that would order with me now that we know they aren't available as the others are and seeing how they came out
10. I'll make something up, I just want 10 reasons!

Trust me, if I had known they were like that, I would have ordered a Bongo 4 or 5 HS PDN or a Reflex 5 HH. I knew they were gonna be good, but THAT good?!
No offence to the manufacturers I'm about to mention, but many drop £2500-5000 on a Dingwall, or a USA Lakland, or a Fender Custom Shop. It would have been about £2000 for the Reflex 5 HH PDN...roughly, and that is a bargain for what it is.
Musicman might produce a lot of basses and guitars, but they should get more recognition for how good they are.

So I talked to EBMM,
Not going to happen. The dealers just felt they wouldn't get the action on the Reflex 5HH vs the normal models. I think thats based on the fact that the current color selection for the Reflex is poor for a bass over 2 grand... but you add the features you did for the PDN & you would have seen the pent up demand come out
Its a shame to see a bass you want & not have a shot at it. Honestly if I'm going to drop over 2 grand I have to LOVE it. So for now I'm going to try a used Carvin LB75 for cheap to go with my Bongo HH5. I can always sell it again for a small loss if another Reflex HH5 pops up.
UPDATE: Spoke to BassCentral & Perfect bass, the reason they & other PDNs likely didn't order the Reflex was due to relatively poor sales vs the other models. One would assume that people like the old reliable & are intimidated by the electronics packages. I think its more of a product of the bland styling\colors at this price point

Yeah, apparently I'm the one guy in the U.S. who ordered it.
But I had no hesitation as I had a 25th 5HH and I still have the
25th HSS, which I also totally love, so I knew I'd dig it. I sold a great guitar for a large part of the cost and I'm really glad I did.
I should have it Friday.
I have to sell to buy and sold it for a Roasted neck run Bongo 5HH which I traded for a True Gold Rosewood neck run Sterling 5HS which I sold for my Big Al 5 SSS.
I don't have a problem with the Bridge pickup being closer to the bridge as I just use the EQ, plus I had two Laklands for a long time before I went to EBMM's so that must figure into the equation. I have a BA 5 H, a Ray 35 H and the Reflex so I'm deep in sweet now.
btw, you mentioned getting an inexpensive bass and I recommend the Ray35 very highly. Huge bang for the buck. Mine's Black so I won't pitch it to you but it comes in Natural & Honey Burst.
I'm into Classic Rock, which is just rock to me being the young geezer I am.

HSS: I like to have the bridge pickup in the sweet spot for tone & playability reasons, the HH has the series\parallel button
Bongo HH: No passive, no series parallel, no sweet spot pickup
Big al: No sweet spot pickup bridge, no series parallel button
Sterling\Stingray: No passive, no series parallel, no 5 band EQ
That thread was written to see if the company could make some available as all other models & pickup configs are available now... if they didnt want to, I wrote it pretty clearly... thats their choice... so when they said no, people asked me to settle on something else... I just believe strongly in the Reflex HH5 and made my case.

I'm very pleased how the owner of this custom workshop finished the neck of my reflex.
I was really tired of non-stop maple cleaning, so I decided to hire a professional to do sanding and high gloss paint job!

Having a bass like the reflex really teaches you what you like and don't like.

Reflex doesn't sell that well & I think thats a shame & I'll defend why the Reflex HH is the best bass they make all day long... funny thing was, nobody could argue against it !!
