EBMM StingRay Special Club

Curious if anyone here can tell me if the Stingray Special bridge can accommodate adjustable saddles?
I'm thinking of getting one, but I'd like to be able to make the string spacing more narrow - around 16.5 mm if possible.
Has anyone here looked into swapping out the bridge saddles with some that offer adjustable spacing? And if so, what brand of saddles would work on the MM bridge?

It's not something that I've tried, but the bridge is not all that different from a normal bent plate bridge so I don't see why you wouldn't be able to replace the saddles with the ones with the ridges in them.
Yes, if you can get big fat (tall) saddles with ridges, that might work! You’ll be moving the strings away from the pickup pole-piece centres, on the outer strings, so might get a slight reduction in volume? Might not be noticeable, with the new neo magnets…..

Well, my “brand new” 5HH arrived today from Eddie’s Guitars….and it’s pre-scratched for me.

You’re absolutely right. There was nothing floating around in the case, the box wasn’t damaged (besides, that part of the bass is against the “fur” in the case anyway). It had to have happened before it was boxed up and shipped.

To the guys who bought the lavabursts...congrats! That finish looks great (I'm not a huge fan of the burst finish on EBMM basses), anche the woods...!!

I haven't tried my SR5H Special in band yet, but at the time of purchase I made an A/B test with an "old" one, the latter version with Alnico pu...they shared the same character, but the Special was lighter (in weight), a bit more open in sound (due to the 18v pre?) and a little less "growly".
The Special doesn't lack of growl, (to me) it sounds a bit more versatile while still carrying the "EBMM SR" sound.
Plus, I dig more the old style pickup (aestethic-wise

I got a bit of bad news last night, even if it was expected. The festival that I was planning to debut this bass at just got canceled due to COVID concerns. My current gig calendar is a little light (thanks, global pandemic), so I'm likely looking at Halloween weekend (at best) before I get to hear this bass at a show.
I also have a CLF L-2500, and I've been comparing. The CLF has a smaller neck radius, which in my experience, translates to a little higher action. The Special has more of a smooth-but-punchy tone, where I would call the CLF more Fender-ish. (I think I'm a single pickup fan. I run my CLF mostly with the bridge pickup only, and I'm not very attracted to the concept of a StingRay with more than one pickup.) Right now, the Special is the winner, but I'm curious to see what I think over time. In the looks department, I am not in love with the vomit-burst on my Special, but I also don't love the a-little-too-white color of the maple neck on my CLF. Weight-wise, if you have a StingRay5 that is under 8 pounds, how can that not be the winner? It beats my CLF by almost a pound and a half.
Well, my special weights under 9 lbs (4 kg/8,81 lbs). It's even lighter than the classic IV!
I don't know how many times "per catalogue" does MM change the colour palette, but I gotta admit there's very few of them that I appreciate at the moment. These fancy, "mystic" bursts don't really catch my eye.

I feel like lately they have been doing a round of colours each year.
I too prefer single pickup Stingray .
But I also prefer the Stingray5 Special and I love the latest finish options.

Ps. I prefer the look of the single H but LOVE having the HH. Sooo much tone control, it can sound like just about anything.
Update: Eddie’s Guitars made it right with me. I got a substantial refund, and I’m keeping the bass. It plays and sounds amazing, so I was hoping we could work it out so I could keep it.

I'm not used to play with knobs etc, I tend to find 2-3 sounds that may suit the songs and stop.
Great! I suppose these marks bothered you (they would have bothered me, at least because it's frustrating dinfing them in a new instrument), but the store seems to have managed the situation in a good way. Enjoy it, more marks and dings will show up
Well, it got its first live workout this weekend. I used it for 2 out of 4 sets on Friday night, and Saturday night I used it for the entire night. It absolutely killed in a live setting. But, you guys/gals already know that, so I’ll spare you the review.
