Louis Johnson is one of the major reasons I love the Stingray. I remember finding his VHS lesson tape in a bargain bin and loved it. Spending some time this weekend learning some of these licks from this well timed video I came across.

I'd guess the blocks, binding, flamed neck, and limited quantity.

Tack on an extra $50 for that pearloid guard, too.

If you zoom in on the neckplate, it says BFR in cursive.

I think it’s a GC exclusive. Really pretty, but the price is too dear for my pockets.

So I got my first EBMM is many years not long ago - a tectonic blue SRS 5H. I love it so much I ended up getting a used 5HH as well.

Its a very nice bass. However, it has 2 hairline cracks in the maple board that spans frets 16-20 between the D and G. Seller did not notice this though I can see it in the ad pics.

Im no expert on this kind of issue. It is a gap in the wood though its really right at the surface.

Thoughts, comments, concerns? Seller said they would accept a return or pay for the fix which I think would be fairly straight forward. I’ve been out of town for a week so I haven’t had a chance to take it to a shop for an opinion yet. Hopefully next week. Should the frets be removed for a proper repair like this?

Is it actually a crack? or is it just a dry spot in the fretboard, where a bit of fretboard oil would fix it up? I've never even really considered whether something like that would be a problem or not.

A little wood filler, light sand paper and oil and you'd never notice it. I've actually had little chunks of a a fret board chip off which I repaired. Never on a Musicman though.

Its a great playing and sounding bass. I don’t plan to resell though Ive said that about the prior 43 basses I’ve bought and ended up selling

Yeah theres a gap. Could have left the factory that way. I’m not sure if it will expand or if ithe wood grain just loosened up and thats the way it will stay.

One other question. Is there a place that sells the blade switch caps? I dont see that EBMM sells them.

As with your other issue, I'd reach out to the Mother Ship and ask what Big Poppa thinks.
Re: the switch caps, check your LMS. Mine had a bunch laying around and just gave me one. They're really nice like that.
