This is my second with him too. I agree about the quality. The nicest I've seen. Is yours a 4 or a 5 string?
5HH too. I had to send him a template. My order was placed on 10/29. Three weeks to deliver. Puts it at 11/19.
Hmmm. Interesting. He said that he already had a template when I placed my order on 10/25. Maybe he was mistaken. Anyway I guess mine will be ready somewhere around 11/15.
Will keep you posted.
He may have been referring to my template. I sent it in. It was about a week before I paid the invoice. I wanted to think about what I wanted a little longer. I did end up changing my mind. I am confident I made the right decision.

Anyone with a 4HH also have an L2K and want to compare tones? Asking for a friend, who has a 40th SR he likes but it’s a boat anchor. What a neck though! Uh, he said.
Also have a really nice custom L2K in Empress, so light, but have not bonded with the neck - got it bound, and the corners where you wrap around are hard, reluctant to sand/file it.

I had one years ago. It's very different in my opinion. I never really cared for the L2K bridge pickup soloed. Obviously that isn't the case with the Stingray. I think that the G&L is a very nice bass but it's going to be a lot different from the SRS. Mostly the difference is in pickup placement and materials. The pickups on the SRS are closer to the neck and the L2K pickups will be closer to the bridge. The L2K will be hotter if I remember it correctly but it's much easier to dial in a good tone with the SRS preamp.
I've had two L2Ks at different times, and I found it difficult to dial in the tones I wanted. Very well-made bass, but it almost had too much versatility for me.
Well, I did it. Old Smoothie out, 4HH Aqua/ebony in. 9.47 lbs, which I can easily deal with. Found a sorta matching strap, think it’s too much?
Hard to tell laying there but first glance I like the look of that strap!
I've owned a myriad of Stingray's and Sterlings in my life. Always parted ways with them for either aesthetics or feel. Usually, the sound was pretty decent, but it wasn't perfect for me. It seems like with this refresh, Ernie Ball has addressed almost every "issue" I had with their basses!
-I always thought it needed, at least, one more fret-Done!
-Sometimes, I felt like I was pushing it to get the sound I wanted, so an 18v preamp would be nice-Done!
-I always liked the feel of Stainless frets-Done!
-I always wanted to put black hardware on my 'Ray's-Done!
-I'm a sucker for Ebony fretboards-Done!
-Although I don't think I'm a wuss, I always thought they were a bit on the heavy side and needed to be lighter-Done!
I love my F Basses, and I've got Dingwalls on order, but I'm trying to talk myself out of buying a new Stingray 5HH, and I'm losing...
