EBS 112CL or Orange OBC112 ?

► Should I buy an EBS 112CL or an Orange OBC112 bass cab?

I’m looking for my 1st ‘real’ bass amp (whatever that means).

Disclaimer: English is not my mother tongue, so I may not express myself as accurately as I would like to.

The context:
I play bass in several musical styles, essentially traditional metal and also more modern metal, but not exclusively, so I’m looking for a rather versatile amp. To shape my sound I’ll use the semi-parametric EQ of my preamp.
I’m considering a separate head and cabinet.
It would be used for practise (but not in my bedroom!), for rehearsals and as a personal monitor on stage.
For the cabinet I’m considering a 12”, which seems a good compromise between speaker size and portability.

My question:
After having done a market study, I’m leaning towards an EBS 112CL (Classic Line) or an Orange OBC112.
Unfortunately I don’t have an opportunity to try those amps, so could someone help me chose between those two cabs?

Thanks.

Both are 112 cabinets and will require an amplifier. Keep the following information in mind when selecting your amp.
The EBS is rated as 250 watts RMS at 8 ohms with a sensitivity of 94dB. Frequency Response: 35 - 18k Hz
The Orange LaVoce speaker is rated as 400 watts program (200 watts AES) at 8 ohms with a sensitivity of 97dB. Orange really skimps on specifications.
Which one has the tone you prefer can only be determined once you play through them.

Depending on how loud the rest of the band is, you may find that a single 112 isn't enough to keep up. Two 112s or a single 212 might be more appropriate.
I would suggest asking the question over at basschat.co.uk as well, as those two brands have more traction in the EU/UK market.
