EBS Interconnection Plugs

Anyone here use EBS Interconnection Plugs for their pedalboard? How's the qulaity of their plug? and how much are they cost?

I do. They cost about $10. They're the smallest, highest quality couplers I've ever had the pleasure of using. They were way expensive, though. Twice the going price of a nromal patch cable, but they really save space on my board, leaving around half an inch (maybe less) between each pedal.

I got them from The Perfect Bass, but they don't have them for sale on their website. I actually sent EBS an email asking about them today. I'll let you know what they say.

FWIW I just got some neutrik ones off ebay that are very good quality also, I paid $28 shipped for 7 of them.

Yes they do, and they even come in black!

However, the EBS ones have a much smaller space in between the actual 1/4 plugs, so it saves a ton of space.

Can anyone tell me where I could buy either the Nuetrik or EBS couplers? It'll need to be somewhere that ships internationally.

I've only ordered from guitareffectspedals.com before but they don't stock either brand. music123.com ships internationally but I don't think they have them either.

For anyone interested, they are Neutrik NYS series (read; budget series) adapters model no. NYS237.


...and I think what Toasted is alluding to is the fact that they could induce mechanical stress on the circuit board because they are so rigid. However, this is only an issue if the sockets are soldered direct to the PCB, which is increasingly often.

Hmmm.. might just stick with George L's then. I don't even have a board yet so saving space isn't a real big issue.

These things aren't necessarily great for the circuit board in your pedals, you guys know that, right?

Right. Sometimes the plugs or jacks can get bent, so when you step (or put pressure) on one pedal, it pushes up on the inside of the jack of the adjacent pedal. This could cause some damage, but it is avoidable.

You just have to check and make sure all of your pedals sit flat on your board when you have the couples plugged into them. This is especially important for the off-set couplers because the straight ones generally don't get bent as badly. The only problem is that you can only use straight couplers on two of the same pedal (like two Boss pedals) with jacks that line up perfectly.

Does that make sense to anyone?

I don't see why not. They fit my boss, EHX nanos, tonefactor, hotcake, and tech21 stuff.

+1 to Spanky's comment, but...

Not all pedals have perfectly straight jacks. In fact, some are angled on purpose.

The one pedal that immediately comes to mind is the reissue EHX Clone Theory. At first, I thought the jack was bent up or something, and I opened up the pedal to take a look. It turns out that the jacks are PCB-mounted at an angle on purpose, because of space limitations. While there's no concern about PCB damage (the jacks are securely fastened to the chassis, too), I can't use a coupler with it.

It's okay, though - my pedal arrangement wouldn't allow for practical coupler use, anyway
