EBS Multicomp Pedal.

Hi,

The Multicomp is a great pedal, but I recently sold mine as I was finding the noise level very high. I understand this will happen with compression, but I painstakingly went through every part of my pedal / rig / cables / power supplies to find the source of the noise and it was this pedal.

I've now switched to the Aphex Punch Factory, and it's an awesome little pedal.

Hopefully you don't find yours noisy - maybe mine had developed a fault?

I have been coming to the conclusion that sometimes EBS pedals "go bad". In other words you can have a pedal which is noiseless, then you forget it in the closet for a year, or you loan it to your buddy for a while, and the next time you use it, it's noisy. It's usually an older pedal that somebody bought used which gets the noise complaints. I suppose there must be the occasional bad one new out of the box as well, but not often.

IOW I've been watching and reading all the threads here and elsewhere on the subject of noisy EBS pedals for a few years now, and I've owned good and bad ones myself, and it's just not as simple as "yes they are noisy" or "no they aren't".

They may go bad. As to when they go bad, or under what circumstances, impossible to say. There's even a good chance any one given pedal may never have a problem.

That's all I know about it at this time.

Been using a Power-All adapter, which has worked fine on all my other pedals (including an EBS Octabass / BassIQ). First I found out about it was when our band won a local battle of the bands and we ended up at a "real" music venue (1500 capacity), through a mahoosive PA system!

My thoughts are the pedal faded over time, and the noise crept in with less and less gain control.

Oh well... I'll see how I get on with the Punch Factory. :bassist:

I have a few EBS pedals (BassIQ, OctaBass, MultiComp & UniChorus). I did buy them all new and they are all 2008 ("Black Label") and only had a problem with the Octabass... it would pop now and again when I would switch it on... I took it back to the store and they traded it, no prob.
No noise problem from any of them.

I do use a OneSpot for mine and don't have any problem. I have also worked them from my Voodoo Lab and they work fine.
