Haven't plugged it in yet....

Can't believe it, Made in China! China I tell you!

What's the difference between buying Behringer and EBS for Gods Sake!

Yes Behringer is cheaper ....

Danish designers aren't going to better than German ones!
  • Behringer - 20 to 30 quid
  • EBS - 80 - 145 quid

Both made in china. Justification for the price difference... we'll see..... :bawl:

Lets hope the components really are better!

Just as well I didn't go for the EBS IQ!

This globalization is starting to get me down!

Am I ever going to be happy?

Some one pass me my smelling salts and call my analyst!

I don't mean this to sound snarky but... get used to it, pretty much everything is now manufactured in countries like China where the labour is cheap. At the end of the day, if the pedal works the way that it is meant to and I feel it is worth the price, then it couldn't bother me less where it is made.

I mean that's like saying that all the Japanese Fenders etc. aren't worth their weight in gold, which they sure are!

I know.... but look whats happen to English manufacturing because of it.... :D

In these times, it's very difficult to avoid buying "Made in China". Was the pc you used to place your order or log on to TB exempt? What about the car to drive to GC or your local shop? What about the rest of your gear? If your point is simply price point for a Chinese product, well go ahead and return it. Get a good listen and feel first. Then replace it with the Behringer. You may be satisfied with the savings. But unless your planning on using it for a paperweight, you'll eventually look for someone else.

You know....Denmark...Sweden..Norway...somewhere outside US. Yes EBS is swedish design, although manufactured in China. But many quality products comes from China these days, and the OctaBass is certainly one of them!

Globalization is a fact, live with it. The computer or smart phone you used to post that message was not made in the USA. Your car has many parts that cannot be made in the USA. Your house or apartment has non-USA construction parts. Did you listen to music on a radio? China or Taiwan made, more than likely,

The business fact of today's world is that you manufacture your product via the lowest bidder than will maintain proper QC. That is business reality. Your design HQ can be located in the middle of a Nebraska corn field, and you can still be a global player because you use a Chinese plant to build the product to your spec.

Boss pedals aren't made in the USA. BBE pedals aren't made in the USA. The cool EHX pedal are made in Russia.

It is impossible to live a life of "Made in America Only". To get close, you would have to fell our own trees on your land, to turn into a log house, and then make your own furniture, harvest your own shellac from your own worm farm to seal them, make your own pottery kitchen ware, make your own candles with wax from your bee hives, grow your own cotton or hemp and weave your own clothes.

Otherwise, stop listening with our eyes and begin using your ears.

You know, you've got quite a history of bashing Asian made gear. (Before you suggest in reply, yes I'm very calm) Why don't you just "NOT BUY ASIAN GEAR" if your so against it! Find what you like elsewhere. You don't like the price, DON'T BUY IT! However, this continued rant against Asian production is getting a bit old and unwarranted. An MIM, just so you know, is North American like Canada and USA. There are some, who for the dollar point and quality, choose MIM. Plenty of players here have Korean, Japanese, Indonesian Lakland, Fender, MTD, Ibanez, Epiphone and more, and are more than satisfied. I can't even begin to list the countless number if amps, cabs, effects, tuners, strings, straps, that are outstanding items made in Asian factories and are worth it. For the record everything should be cost less in an ideal world!

Maybe you would do best to take a German or Italian made bass, lay down a new groove for this tired song your singin'. But be carefully it doesn't have Korean made strings on it; that just might put a wrinkle in your funk!
(Sorry I can't add a smiley from my Samsung EVO, ugh)

Update: Got to my Dell PC :D

Pass on the Behringer. Doing a cursory search will show you just how little a great number of people respect their products.

As for the EBS Octabass? I was in the market for an analog octaver for a while, and it came down to the EBS Octabass and the Aguilar Octamizer. I tried out both on tuesday, and frankly I think the Aguilar Octamizer is a better pedal. I had better control of the signal with that pedal than I did with the EBS. I generally like what EBS does, and the Octabass certainly feels solidly put together. But in terms of functionality I have to go with the Aguilar. And FWIW, they're both priced very similarly.

Oh, here we go. I made a statement of my preferences. Not a flame to get involved in discussing world economics. You need to find someone else for that. Thanks anyway!

No flame, it was an honest question. You stated a preference for a US-made guitar. In the context of this thread, it is a valid question to ask if you also specify the components of US origin to comply with your desire for a US-made guitar.

Your skin...it needs to be thicker.

I have played with several Octave pedals over the years, I have used EBS, MXR, and Aguilar. All have good and bad qualities. I would rank them Aguilar#1, MXR#2, EBS#3 based on sound and tracking. I have found the subwave effect on my SWR 350x is supierior to all of them, more natural sounding and excellent tracking down to low E (four string).

Lol, yes I use Aphex, Boss, Line 6, Zoom, Sony, Toshiba, Nissan, Emerson, and many other Asian-made products. I also support what's left of the American workforce, and if that is helping a Mexican American in Corona assemble a bass made of foreign materials, so be it.
