It's also why Titanium is now used for fire-fighting piping on offshore drilling rigs.
Once upon a time they used Bronze, but it was heavy & created issues with the rig's stability.

Bronze was used since it's non-ferrous, but so is Titanium.

Mine finally came in (one last piece of my purchase was on backorder) so I've only had a brief time to try them out. Specifically, I got a set of the .100-.45 EBS_STN-MD4 nickel-titaniums. So far, I like them. There's some nice flex going on there and they sound nice and clear...neither too harsh/aggressive, nor too dull/mellow.

And now that they're on an even better sale price ($13.50, as opposed to the $20 I paid for them), I think I'll be grabbing another set soon.

Update: Got the nickle ones in 45-105. The tone is nice so far and not too bright but otherwise regular strings. They do kind of have a flex to them. Definitely not a stiff string but I got low action regardless.

My only complaint is the windings. They are kind of rough to be nickle, not enough to bother me because I usually use stainless steel but nickle lovers should know. Also, the windings somehow catch the hairs on my arm. I've never had strings do that to me.

Worth it for the sale price but not worth it all full price, not when strings like DR, Dean Markley and more are available for not much more. I only say that because of the texture not being as good as contemporaries.
