Eden D410 XLT/ ohms question

I'm embarrassed because I kind of don't clearly understand the whole 'ohms' thing. But here's what I have- I have an opportunity to buy an old Eden D410 XLT. Not sure what the impedance is on it (pic included of label on back). My amp is an Ampeg PF350 (also pic/ratings included). I'd like to know if I can A) safely run one cable to the cab input without blowing anything up, or B) upgrade to a PF500 and do the same?

Also, if anyone's familiar, what are the two inputs on the left? I think this is an older model or something, doesn't jive with pics of the current model.

Use is for cover band, smaller venues, etc.

Z is shorthand for impedance, so the label say 8 ohms. It would not be a bad idea to confirm original drivers and measure with a multimeter. DC resistance reading should be approximately 2/3 of the impedance, so 5-6 ohms.

Although there are two terminals on the left, its' really only one connection (+ and - terminals). It is called a banana plug or 5-way binding post.

For portable audio people generally use banana plugs with this type of jack, so it's one quick, easy connection.

Hey man- thanks so much for info! I sort of figured that "Z 8" meant 8ohms. Still trying to grasp all this 'black magic' stuff. One other question, the two 1/4" jacks on the right, those are separate inputs from the amp, I would assume? And, can I run this with a 500w amp or do I need a 700?

The two 1/4" inputs should be connected in parallel. Essentially they are the same input. You definitely do not want to connect two amps to the same cab, and there is no need to run two cables from your amp to the cab.

You could call also consider the 1/4" jacks an input and a thru to another cab.

The cab should work very well with a 500W amp, but check the amps specs to see the impedance where it is rated for 500W. If it is rated for 500W at 4 ohms, chances are it will only make about 350W at 8 ohms. The cab will also work fine with 350W, it just won't play as loud.

The rule is you need a 3dB change in SPL to hear a noticeable difference. To get 3dB change, you double the power, or cut the power in half.

The dB difference between 350W and 700W is 3dB because 700 is 2 x 350.

The dB difference between 500 and 700W is only 1.46dB.

Thee dB difference between 350 and 500 is only 1.55dB

Ok, cool, can't thank you enough! So one cable from amp (500) to cab should do it, assuming specs are ok.

The cabinet will work with even a 1 watt amp, it just won't be very loud.
"700 watts RMS" on the connector plate of the cabinet is the maximum input rating from the manufacturer, not an amplifier requirement.

Make sure it's a speaker cable and not an instrument cable. They aren't built the same.
PF350 --> 1 speaker cable --> cabinet 1 input

If in the future you add another 8 ohms cabinet, connect it as follows:
PF350 --> 1 speaker cable --> cabinet 1 input || cabinet 1 through --> 1 speaker cable --> cabinet 2 input
