eden e300???? any good

From what I've heard I really like Eden and if one of these were to come up on the second hand market I would consider it. BUT . . . the review you linked to said "auto compression." I don't know if I would want that. OTOH if the sound coming out was great who cares what they call it.

I have seen the E-300 new on ebay for under 300.00. I picked up a enx260 (now the wtx264) new for 299.00. Great head for home practice or small jam sessions. The E-300 is voiced like the EN combo amps, I felt it was cold and sterile and the enx was slightly warmer. Like a wtx500 but half the power or more like the wtx260 without the extra bells and whistles.

If the price is right, get it + Tech21 VT bass and it should be a good little setup IMO.

I know I'm a bit late on the post, but I bought an E300 in late February and have been using it at gigs ever since. It has incredible tonal flexibility and some great clean sounds. The auto compression isn't really noticeable. Pretty transparent. In fact, I actually use an additional compressor in my rig as I've got a pretty soft touch.

I A/B'ed the E300 with a cheap Crate 200w head through a Peavey 115 cab and couldn't tell much of a difference, but when I got my Aguilar 210 and A/B'ed the heads it was like night and day. Those speakers came to life with the Eden. Good volume and punch for the size as well. I made a "flight case" for mine by lining a suitcase with foam mattress padding.

I ordered an E300 from Musician's Friend in late May and got it last week. For the half-hour it ran, it sounded pretty good - much like my friend's Nemesis NC-210. But the thermally-controlled fans never turned on, and it overheated and shut down after a bit. Musician's Friend immediately sent me a return label, and will ship me a new one when they get some in stock (sometime between now and September, I'm told).

I actually own the e300. I've had it for about 6 months and purchased it from sameday music for $216.00. Musicians friend had them for about $230 but were out of stock. Sameday had one left and they sold it to me for a percentage less than MF. I play through an ampeg SVT classic with a 210 cab and a 115 when I need volume. I also had an older Fender bass amp I used for smaller venues. I bought the eden so I could use it with my 210 cab and get rid of the Fender. I really love the sound of the Eden with the 210. I can actually play a larger venue than with the fender. The eden is really warm and punchy and people trip when they see the small setup with the big sound. I won't deny the great tone tubes put out but the eden e 300 /ampeg 210 sound would be hard to beat in a small restaurant/patio gig. I'm really happy with it and it's about 60 pounds easier to move around compared to the SVT. The two knocks on it are that there is only one speaker out and the cooling fans never stop and are louder than the SVT classic fan.

FWIW, I gave up waiting on the E300, and MF sent me a GK MB200 for the same price. A very different amp. I paired it with an old Carvin ported 110 cab, and I've already played a couple of acoustic gigs with it. Nice, at a little over 30 pounds for the cabinet and (two pound) amp.

Had a chance to play and listen to E300 this week - sounded real good. I would characterize it as "smooth". Ran bass at flat, slight cut on mids and highs. Enhance off. With 2 8ohm cabs - Golight 112 and 440 Live 210. Master set at 50%. This was in a blues jam so I played 2 sets with 2 different active Aquilina basses and listened to 3 other players with passive basses - 1 P and 2 Jazz. All sounded very punchy, deep and clear and I'd say a step above the Peavey T-Max head that I've been using.

I am really liking my e300. It's the first bass head I've ever had, so I don't really have any other head to compare it to. I have an swr WM 410t and they sound great together. Most times I cut the bass just a hair and leave the mids and highs set flat. Then add a little enhance to taste, which for me is around 9:00. I have tried it with other cabs: ampeg, hartke, GB... They all sounded good.

I got the E300 with the EX410 cab a few months back, and its been reliable. The issue now, since I recently picked up a new Am standard Jazz V, is that the cab cuts in and out when I play Eb down to open B on the B string. It worked fine and handled the SPLs and subs on my warwick, but the Fender seems to freak it right out.

Trying to work out what the deal is....??

If you've swapped instrument and speaker cables to rule out an intermittent short in one of them, try spraying Deoxit contact cleaner in the bass's output jack and run a plug in and out a bunch of times, and do the same on the input and speaker out jacks on the amp and the input jacks on the cab.

im probbably gettin one of this tommorrow. so can anyone explain whats teh deal with the ohms and watts really simple? this is 300w at 4ohm. so does that mean i have to get a 4 ohm cabinet to get all the 300 watts? what happens if my bass cabinet is 8ohm? thank you
