Bought a used Eden Navigator Preamp.
Love the warm tone!
I'm torn between this and my Raven Labs USIP Preamp, but since my GK can provide clean and some growl, the Eden Pre gets me the warmth and more mid control. This Pre fits right in for more versatile sounds.

Can I get a number!

I have no idea why I haven't posted here. My main rig has been an Eden WT405 + 410XLT since 2007! Recently I purchased a WTX500 for my back-up/small gig rig. I love the tone & features but I'm concerned about the volume. It just doesn't have the same output as other 500 watt micro heads. I can't get the gain higher than 11 o'clock or the clip light comes on. I run the eq on the amp & my bass flat.

I'm going to take it out to a rehearsal this Saturday & next Tuesday to see if it holds up with a full band. I don't hear the limiter kicking in or changing my tone. Will I damage this head if I push it to the point where the clip light flashes on a while lot? I am using a Epifani PS210 cab and it is 4ohms.

I leave my main rig at church, but I will post a picture of it soon so I can get a number too.

Jeez, I forgot I was in this club - #79. Senior moment. LOL!
Anyway, just picked up a WTDI that I'm really digging. I'm running that into a Peavey IPR1600 power amp. Great warm Eden tone in a little magic box! Build quality is excellent IMO. Simple effective EQ, compressor, enhance (though I never use that). All good!

I have a WT400 that I used for years until I went micro. Now I play a number of different heads live but among them is the WTX500. It's still probably my favorite for sound.

You shouldn't be afraid of running it till the clip light comes on. In fact, you kind of have to if you want to see any big volume out of it IME. The clip light is driven off the power amp module which is a ICEpower 125asx2. That amp module is designed for a variety of applications including the ultra clean hi-fi audiophile industry where distortion is a definite no no. That ICEpower module clip circuit is set to go off with a minute bit of distortion to accommodate hi-fi applications. Us bass players can tolerate much higher distortion before we feel our sound is compromised.

* Edit - this isn't true. I was mistaken about the clip light being driven from the ICEpower module. I recently obtained schematics and it's driven off the preamp. Still, IME it's set to go off much too early.

In my experience (IME) you can run the WTX500 right up till the clip light is on 50% of the time before you'll hear distortion through typical bass cabs. I've ran mine like that on quite a few gigs for entire nights. It's been a solid head although it doesn't sound like a genuine class AB 500 Watts RMS to me either. Your mileage may vary (YMMV)

Thanks! I'm sitting here with the WTX500, Markbass Big Bang, and an Epifani UL501 trying to figure out which one has found a new home. I'm gonna push that little Eden and see what it does.

Try the WTX with everything flat and Enhance off.
Just engage the bass boost. And? Like that?

I run it flat (one of the reason I love Edens) and I never use the Enhance. I don't even really need the bass boost. But I will remember that this weekend at rehearsal.

Can a more powerful power module be fitted in this head to give it more volume? I'd be willing to pay a nice chunk of $$ to get the true 500 watts out of it. My WT405 kills the WTX with only 405 watts!

I played with that idea because you can technically fit an ICEpower 250asx2 in the WTX chassis however other manufacturers that use that module do some trickery with its output and cooling to be able to run it at 4 ohm in bridged mode and get 800-900 WRMS. In its stock form I think its rated at 500 watts at 8 ohms.

* Edit - technically you can not fit an ICEpower 250asx2 in the WTX chassis. I tried. :(

I think it's definitely worth looking into. I couldn't imagine this little booger pumping out 800 watts or anything close to it...but if it works it will be amazing.
