Double Bass Eden EX1108 vs TE Elf 1x10

Hi, guys.

Recently I decided to buy a 1x10 cab to take on upright bass jazz gigs (usually no drummer). Around where I live, there were only 2 choices: the Eden ex110 or the Trace Elliot Elf 1x10.

Since the Eden was half the price (and also for vibe and cosmetic reasons) I bought the Eden. I bought it on Amazon. When it came, I was surprised how heavy the little thing was (compared to its size). But it passed the sound test, so it's now a part of my arsenal. Then I started to think, why was the TE cab double the price of the Eden? I figured it was older (which might be true). But then I noticed that the Elf is HALF THE WEIGHT!!! I then went to a store and (physically) picked one up. It was super light! So my question is, did I mess up? Should I have got the Elf cab in the first place? The Eden has a whizzer speaker which some people say is better for upright. Has anyone tried both with an upright?

I know I could go to the store with my Eden and test them both out, but where I live is dominated by trains. I don't want to bring the amp, my head, and an upright to the store.

The Only Way to really tell is to play through both of them, so I hate to tell you this but you'll either have to go to the store with the bass, or alternatively order on of Amazon and do a trial.

This cabinet has some reviewers on Talkbass. You could do a search for the Trace Elliot on Talkbass.

Yes, I’ve seen many reviews here (and that’s what made me join the site), all reviews for both cabs are good. Also, specifically, I wanted to hear an upright player’s opinion.

Yeah,
I have tried several cabinets by just ordering one. SWR and Flite Sound 2x8's come to mind, they were decent. When I got to actually play through one of the early Euphonic Audio VL-108's I was struck by just how much better the cabinet was, because I had auditioned it, before I bought it. Music stores are so much of a dissappearing breed these days, sometimes you just have take the plunge, but if you can get to the cabinet and try it out it's just so much better. Reviews are great, but just remember, opinions are like ......... everyone has one. Including me.
