Eden head with external preamp?

Hi!

I have an Eden WT800B that I really love. Great tone and thundering power.
For my rockier gigs I would need the classic "Ampeg sound". I have an idea to get a Ampeg SVP-CL and run it through the aux in on my WT800B to only use the Eden's power amp. Have anyone tried this with an external preamp???

A bonus is to get a monsterous two channel head with 1100W

No problem connecting another preamp. I do just that with an SVP-Pro into either the Aux In or the Left Effects Return.

I do it with my WT-550, no problems... I'd really like to get to blending the two sounds though. Best of both worlds. Haven't quite figured out how yet.

12bass, Is there a level difference between the two inputs? I think the Aux In would be best for me so I can use the Eden channel at the same time. The Effect Return would disconnect the Eden preamp right?

Wouldn't it be far simpler to use something like a Sansamp BDDI (or, gasp, the Behringer BDI21 [Invalid or Expired Link Removed]) with your Eden?

After all, you're just trying to get a lo-fi tone from your existing amp!

Why not use the extensive EQ alredy in the Eden head?

Use the Effects Return.

I have a WT-1205 and will be test it and a DB750 soon along with various preamps through some new Berg NV cabs.

If I can't decide between my Eden and the DB750 (or another pre like the SVPCL, RBI, DB659) then what I will do is exactly this. Use the MORE tubey/Ampegish/Warm pre for the more rockin' stuff and the Eden for everything else. We'll see.

I will check out the BDDI some more. I tried it some time ago but didn't get that "Ampeg midrange-edge" I was looking for but I will try it again.

Mike, would the Effects return be better for the Ampeg preamp than the Aux In? In that case I loose the possibility to use the Eden pre at the same time...
