Eden Nemesis 210 Combo

Anyone familiar with this amp? I've been looking for a 2X10 combo amp for a while. I played the Ampeg BA-210 and like it a lot but quite pricey at $699 new. I played the Eden Nemesis 210 at a local shop yesterday and it sounded great. Comparable to the Ampeg IMO. The price on that is $455 new. Any thoughts on this amp at that price? Better alternatives?

I've got an old Nemesis NC210P, the first upgrade that put heat sinks on the back (pre Fender pre fan) and it's 200W @ 4 ohms.
Never had a problem overheating (and I live in tucson AZ)

Great amp, the combo is voiced low for deep bass compared to others, which works fine in my band. Only caveat is the non adjustable tweeter, but since I run a Sansamp Para DI which cuts high end anyway it works very well for me.

And at $300 used, a much better value than buying a new amp that doesn't perform as well

Just my 0.02

I picked up one of these (the NC210P - not the Silver Series) on the aftermarket about six months ago. A great little amp, especially for the price - deep and punchy, with a nice hi-fi tone and lots of great signal-processing options.

Suggestion: Try to pick up one of the older ones. Mine is a 1996 model (the year the Nemesis was introduced), which I scored for a mere $250. Sweet!

I use my Nemesis 210 in band practice most of the time. Very loud for the wattage. Great tone. Best small amp I've used. I don't know of any silver series 210. Is that new? If it's in the $600 dollar range that's what I paid 1 1/2 years ago and it's a regular Nemesis. I like Ampegs big amps, I like the Eden much better for the small ones, except the silver series. Don't care for the 8" speakers and I thought the other one was a 15 or a 12, but things may have changed.
The rest of the band is really impressed by it if that matters to you.

I used to have one. It's a very good little combo. Loud and relatively clear. However, IMO the speaker cabinet part is very much outclassed by the amplifier part. I used to use mine with an extension cabinet, an Eden D210P and the sound coming out of the Eden cabinet was far superior to the sound coming out of the Nemesis speaker cabinet. The Eden cabinet had crystal clear punch and the Nemesis was producing comparative mud.

A year ago i picked up the same combo but in a 410 used for $175.00+tax at my GC. It was missing a couple of knobs and needed the grill repainted and a dent removed. I repainted the grill flattened out the dent and Eden sent me a full set of knobs shipped free :) I use it for smaller gigs and it is my main practice amp and i love it a great amp i could really use at larger gigs so i also have a good backup for my GK. I dont think you can go wrong with the Nemisis.

Wow you guys are starting really make me think. I'm just really caught up in the BA-210 because some of the nice features it has (CD player input, direct out, casters, and built-in tuner). But the price is a killer. I think the Nemesis 210 has the CD line-in also but no built-in tuner. It does have a parallel out for a sub though +++. Biggest selling point is it's $250 less than the BA-210. Really leaning towards that Eden Combo.

Here's the Ampeg BA-210:

I've played through the older NC210P and hated it. Haven't tried the new silverface one.

The problem is it's voiced really "deep", which is nice an pretty when you're practicing a lone, but gets buried SUPER easy in a mix, and for some reason, it was really hard for me to get it to sound much different without the overall result being not much better in some other way.

Also, that damn tweeter. ARGH! I never had tweeter squeal feedback problems until I used that amp. You dial in enough overall high end to have an "ok" crisp tone, and then if you get near the amp without turning your bass down, time to get some new eardrums. :)

Bottom line is, YMMV, but this is one amp Eden put out that falls WAY short of the mark... WAY short, and I'm a huge fan of Eden products. My Time Traveler (405) will be with me forever.

I've been using a Nemesis NC212 combo for the past several months, and I like it pretty well, no problems. I've played the Ampeg BA210 in the stores, and I liked the tone but it didn't seem loud enough.

Ampeg has a new line of combos coming out very soon that look pretty impressive on paper. Check the Ampeg website for details about the BA300 and BA600 models. You might like them better than the BA210.

I called the music shop and got the model number. It's the N28S. So it is a Silver Series amp. Not sure if that's a good thing according to some of you. No direct out on this one. Just CD input and sub out. $439 New

Here's the sub option:

I haven't looked up the specs on that, but are you sure that's not two 8's? N28?
Personally, the silver series I find lacking. The regular Nemesis series is what I have. The controls are on the top in the back and are blue. Those are great amps, The Metros are Killer, but last time I checked are around $1000 or more.

The Bottom one is a real Eden.

Yeah I have the blue NC210 and it is a great amp for the money - if you want to know more about these amps go to [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] - this is a forum attached to the Eden website for people to talk about Eden and Nemesis gear - you will find discussions about the NC210 there if you look. Be aware though (that according to advice I have received from others on the Eden forum) adding a sub to the Nemesis will not give you more volume, as the Nemesis is wired in series, to give its full power to the internal speakers. So if you intend to "extend" then you may need to slave to another amp, or go for something else.

Yep. It has a 4 ohm load on the speakers in it. There is a switch on the back to turn off the speakers. The amp won't handle less than a 4 ohm load, so if you use extension speaker w/ a Nemesis 210, you have to turn off the internal ones.

AFAIK there is no need to turn off the speakers. because it is in seires, you can plug in any cab with any impedance and just let her rip.
I thought I had the manual right here, but I can't find it, and my amp is at the practice trailer. You very well could be right. I was warned not to plug in my 410XLT when I was checking a problem until I turned the speakers off. I don't remember what the manual says about it. It made sense to me once I saw it was 4 ohm and my 410XLT was also.
