Eden WT300 owners: heat?

Okay, so some of you may have seen my post on my WT300 that I got a month or so ago on trade. Initially I had a problem with it where after ten minutes of playing at moderate volume (eq mostly at noon, enhance off, master at noon or 1:00 and gain at 9:30 or so) the fan would come on at jet airplane volume. I took it in to be serviced and they replaced the fan. I got it back a few days ago and used it in an acoustic rehearsal tonight with settings similar to the above, except master at around 10:30 or so. The fan never came on, but at the end of the three hours the case was very warm to the touch.

I don't remember my WT330 or WT390 that I used back when I was an Eden endorser getting this warm at low volumes. Does this sound normal to you? Or do you think there might still be a problem with the amp that the service center didn't note?

There's a tube and 4 - 5 watt voltage dropping resisters that generate heat inside the WT-300 and WT-400.

When being used in a low volume situation the heat sensor mounted on the output amp board doesn't get hot enough to start the fan and vent the chassis. The other components still generate heat even when there is no sound being produced.

I would make sure the fan still comes on since being replaced. If it does come on under high volume use, I wouldn't worry about the chassis getting warm.

If you're going to replace your fan with a 80mm PC case fan, you probably won't go wrong with a Noctua fan. They are the premium low noise fans. You pay a bit more but they do work well. I'd be wary about trusting manufacturer provided noise and CFM specs. Not all of them are honest about it. Do a google seach on PC case fan reviews/comparisons/round ups and you'll learn a quite a bit.

at 8 ohms my wt-300's fan never comes on and the case does get warm to the touch. When i add a second cab the fan comes on and keeps the whole amp cool.
