Eden WT550 users!

Just for the record, I was an early user of Eden stuff back in the day and have owned my fair share of their gear. It's been many years but I still remember that EQ and what I thought was just a solid musical tone. I eventually tried some other things and back when I considered a return Edens customer service was in shambles and it seemed like product reliability was pretty bad, so I stayed away. Fast forward and I'm looking for something relatively small (that can fit in my carrying bag which the 550 would) that would handle my smaller/tight stage/lower volume clubs we play in as well as handle rehearsals.

I remember a lot of the old Eden players moving to Genz Benz. It seemed like quite an exodus!

True, at least on TB perhaps, but Eden's older gear survived all their corporate turmoil and sounds as good as ever. Any problems they develop are pretty much known and fixable by the right tech these days. Glad I hung onto my 400.

PS: This isn't to suggest the newer Eden gear isn't just as good, I just haven't tried any of it.

I still use a WT-300A Traveler for recording and practicing every day. Its sound through the DI out is just killer! My live set up for small and medium sized venues is a Traveler 550 (still hand made in the US) into an Eden 410XST. I love the amps, they really bring out the sound of the instrument without the need of tweaking the EQ.

I did it the other way. I'm a big genz benz fan and have a neox400 amp which is basically a lower powered gbe600 and recently acquired a WT800. I think the para eq makes the eden more versatile also with the enhance and compressor. on the other hand The Genz tube is much more effective for warmth and little grit.

All used parts but love it.

Now that i am looking around for a 2nd band I am pulling my Eden Wt550 out of storage for mobile auditions/rehearsals.
i used to use it a lot from 2003-2008 but mostly use my Aggie DB750 + Aggie GS410 since they sit in my lockout space.

Anyone know where to get spare fuses? I burned one out a while ago.

Yeah, as I said before, the master knob scratch is a design defect, not dirt. Under some pressure, an Eden rep actually admitted it to us several years ago on the Eden forums.

As far as overdrive, I completely agree -- this amp is NOT for overdrive.
Digging this thread up again to say i am glad i read it. Yeah i bought a used 2008 550 8years ago approximately. Really scratchy master volume pot but great amp. Moved to the much lighter(4.5lb) Fender Rumble 500 Class D amp a little over a year ago. That amp has been driving my Bag End 2x10 deep coax cabinet beautifully. That Fender is awesome thus far. So i decided to pull out my first series Acme from the back room and run the Fender through it. Sounds great. TC Spectracomp in use and Fender built in Dynacomp. Acme cabinets are power hungry and i have farted out with them. That being said i think i had to learn how to properly use them with compression and maybe even getting a Fdeck which i have been reading about. So i decided to get the 550 out after almost a year and run it through the Acme. Trying to emulate what the Fdeck does as a high pass filter i rolled off the bass at close to the 30hz mark. Everything else is flat and enhancer is off. TC Spectracomp is on at about 10 and this is one of those moments where i am having a rebirthing moment on this set up. Wow! Even read that Andy from Acme even recommended this amp but i didn't really know how to use it to dial OUT those extreme lows that the Acme B2 produces. Looking forward to playing out with this setup to see if it will sound as good and punchy as it does in my living room. Weekend warrior must twiddle thumbs.....so decreed Oden

And that all being said i figure i can easily work around the scratchy volume pot and make this amp sing again. TC Electronic Polytuner in the chain will mute everything and can adjust a notch of volume or two in mute mode if need be....DONE :) That Fender Rumble 500 head is a sweet inexpensive head though for real! It ain't the WT550 but damn.....very impressive

Yeah the solution to the scratchy pot is simply not to adjust it while playing a note. It's counter-intuitive but not really a hindrance. Just play, mute and adjust, play again, etc.

This thread has been revived several times so let’s do it again!

I’ve gone through a bunch of “boutique” amps over the last 5-6 years but have recently come back to my Eden amps; it’s easier to dial in my sound with them than with anything else I’ve played through.

Just picked up a near-mint WT550 for rehearsals and small gigs — an easier schlep than my WT800 (not to mention my full Traveler/PLX rack rig). Needed some DeOxit, but it’s all cleaned up and ready to go.

Yep, these amps are still out there getting it done.
