effect pedal on bass that compliments guitar using metal muff?

My friend uses a metal muff on his guitar and i'm wondering what pedal would be best for the bass when playing along with that. I'm thinking of getting the big bass muff since it has the bass boost. Would that work well if not what are some suggestions?

Going the fuzz route here is a great way to get lost in the mix. It might be ok with a clean blend and/or a mid boost, but I think there are more better support options. Can you be more specific about what you're going for?

I'd honestly suggest a Microtubes B3K, but keep it with a good blend of clean.

One of the better ways to cut through a wall of fuzz is to have a tight and grindy tone full of midrange. If you have any amount of distorted heaviness to your tone, you are likely to blend with the guitars quickly. Depending on the overall band sound, those are two typical routes to go.

When I want to really stand out I turn on my Diabolik fuzz. It cuts through anything.

A lot of times for heavy slower parts I don't mind blending with heavy guitars. I don't feel like I have to constantly be heard pounding through a mix. When I do play parts that are majorly different than everything else going in or a kind of lead part I do usually go more clean or overdriven and I cut through just fine.

More fuzz doesn't necessarily mean you will be lost. If you want to get fuzzy too there are other options of fuzz that will still stand out in a mix like a Diabolik or other similar style fuzzes.

Overdrive is basically a lighter form of distortion. Some pedals are designed to distort based on how hard you hit the strings. While other overdrive pedals just add distortion on every note regardless. Look up "overdrive bass" on youtube and you will quickly figure it out. Overdrive adds more depth to your tone and can make your notes stand out in a mix.
