Effect pedals with USB loadable sounds/parameters...

Hey guys,

I just tore down my pedal board and I'm heading into a new project (cover band) that will likely require all kinds of effects for copping sounds. Instead of buying different pedals for this, and having one or two pedal boards (as I have done in the past) I am looking for options in this new generation of pedals that look like a "normal" effect pedal but can be loaded with effects of your choice via software/USB etc. In other words, I'm not really looking for an Eventide H9 or anything with on board editing/LCD screens; I'm looking for the conventional looking ones I have seen that have digital guts, editable parameters via computer, loadable via usb.

Whats out there for top choices and what are your opinions?

Cool. I’m thinking more along the lines of a pedal that one week could be a modulator and then the next... turn it into a filter... and so on! I know they exist... don’t know where to look.

It really sounds like you want something like a Line 6 Helix Stomp. Fighting against something like that would seem to really limit your options.

I'm curious to see other options that get suggested.

Eventide H9 looks about right (unless I'm wrong about what you need.)

The loadable pedal idea was tried by Digitech, Hotone and at least one other company a few years ago but it really did not take root. That concept has moved over to players using phones, tablets or laptops for their performance processors using DA interfaces and usually a PA style speaker or straight to the house PA with in ear monitoring.

Many people doing corporate or wedding type cover band gigs usually rely on a standard set of pedals or a multi effect like the Helix mentioned.
