Hello Everyone
I have upgraded my kit and purchased some effects and need help as to what would be the most sensible way to connect them.
I normally use two basses (77 Jazz with EMGs JVX and Spector 5 Custom Legend). I use a Radial Bassbone Tone bone primarily as my A/B Selector but also for some EQ shaping which is minimal.
My current effects are as follows:
TC Electronics Polytune 2
Source Audio Programmable EQ
MXR M288 Bass Octave Deluxe
Seymour Duncan Studio Bass Compressor
Ernie Ball VP-JR Volume Pedal
Markbass MB Mini Boost
As I said, my first pedal on the board is the Tonebone.
My first attempt was as follows (Chainwise)
Through the Loop send out of the Tone Bone I connected the Volume Pedal. I then connected the Tuner to the Tuner Out of the Volume Pedal. From the out of the Volume Pedal I go to the Source Audio EQ, then the MXR Octaver, then to the Compressor and back into the Return on the Loop of the ToneBone.
I still havent figured out where to place the Mini Boost yet.
I will also be adding a Catalinbread Echorec and an MXR Phase 90 in the near future (for the Pink Floyd tunes).
I am using the Boost switch on the Tonebone set to 'Loop' with the assumption that I can have all the effect running through the Tonebone loop. However, I noticed that with the Loop engaged a little bit of noise was added. This was minimal I it could well be the amp but i dont know for certain.
Since I am a novel with Analog effects I would greatly appreciate your help!!
- Does it make sense to have the Volume Pedal exactly after the Tonebone or immediately before the return signal into the Tonebone?
- Should I have all effects into the Tonebone Loop or leave the Compressor and the volume pedal out - and connect them the very last with the OUT of the Tonebone?
- Where should i put the Boost pedal?
- Should I have the EQ pedal in the loop and if yes, where?
- Should I think of getting something similar to the Boss NS-2?
