Effects loop through direct out?

Hello, I'm not a big effects user, but tonight I may use my OC2 through my combo amp's effects loop. I'll be going through the PA via the amp's direct out. So my question is, will the octaver be heard through the PA? Do I have to use the "Post" setting on the DI? :confused:

Are you happier with the OC2 in the amp's effects loop than b/w your bass and amp? Most instrument-level effects work better at instrument level than line level.

If you *do* want to run the pedal in the amp's FX loop, I'd expect the DI would include the effects loop when set to post.

What amp are you using, and what does its user manual say about FX loop routing to the DI?

Thanks for the reply! My amp is a Yorkville BassMaster XM200 and I haven't seen the owner's manual in ages (since moving into the house in 2007)!

I don't like having something between the bass and the amp that's gonna get used only for a song or two, that's why I prefer going through the loop. :)

I'll try with the DI set to post.

Those manuals are full of helpful info about the odd ways certain makes and models behave. From Yorkville's xm200 manual:

XLR Line/DI Output

Line/D.I. Selector Button
The D.I. / Line selector switch enables you to configure the behavior of the Line/DI Output.

• In the D.I. setting, the button connects the Line/DI Output directly to the Input section thus bypassing theVolume control, Tone controls and Effects Send/Return circuitry. You would use the D.I.setting in a recording or P.A. situation where the mixing technician requires a completely dry signal, as ifit were a DI box, Direct from the Instrument.

• In the Line setting, the button connects the Line/DI Output to the final preamp stage so that the Volume control, Tone controls and any connected effects all affect the signal. You would use the Line setting when connecting the Line/DI output to the input of another amp perhaps for added stage coverage, or to a recording or P.A. mixer where a dry signal is not required.


Tip: For most club PA situations, or for home recording, you would probably prefer the Line setting.
