I agree it's ugly, but maybe it plays and sounds great?

Still, I'd pay a few bucks to get the neck off of it, but that's it.

Maybe someone was a fan of the [Invalid or Expired Link Removed] Models? I seriously doubt cutting off one bout did anything noticeable to the sound, and may have made the high notes a tad more accessible. I think the only valid complaint here is that the resulting shape is not traditional anymore, and tradition seems to count here a LOT more than playability or sound.

I don't personally object to this modification. Basses IMO just don't get much uglier than Fenders.

That bass actually is a Fender, those Precisions with the giant bridges were MIJ in the 80's I think, I forget the model name. I'd buy it because of the pickup, neck and bridge.
