yes, sure, for now I have them connected thru an Y cable. But I like the sound so far. I saw other speculations about phasing, but I think that what some people hear, is not phasing, but something that sounds similar.
It might be that the characters of the mikes do not match. Either because of differences between the mikes, or because of the positioning and cork shape that differ.
If you look at the ‘physical model’ of the bass, then the string generates the energy that is passed through the bridge to the body. the bridge has two feet, and the distance between these would cause timing and thus phase differences . But the sound of the string doesn’t travel thru air, but through the wood of the bridge. And the speed of sound through wood is around 4000m/s. As opposed to air, which is around 320m/s. Since the speed is more than 10 times as high, the distance between the two feet is ignorable phasewise.
Another thing is that the bridge doesn’t move symetric. (Unlike an acoustic guitar) Because of the pole on the G side, the E side of the bridge moves different than the other side. If the sound of each mike is not ‘balanced’ but has a more erratic freq curve (caused by difference in position and cork shape), then those two mixed might cause an effect similar to phasing. The result of phasing is comb filtering, which is kindof an ‘eq’ with a lot of peaks and bumps. (Sorry, English is not my first language;-)
I would compare both mike sounds separately, and check if they have a different character. Swapping sides might also give interesting results... Or keep one mike of course, if you’re happy ;-)
