EHX Pitchfork OR Boss PS6??

Hey TBers!

I've been using two amp's simultaneously live recently and I'm interested in a pedal that would give me "power chords" or a 5th when combined with my micro pog ala (royal blood). I've heard a lot of good things about the EHX Pitchfork and the Boss PS6 and I just wanted to hear if one is better than the other..anyone tried any of these pedals?

Any help would be great!

I have 2 pitchforks on my board ... Rondo is right, dirt makes the PF shine & tracking is just like the micropog.

I haven't used the Boss PS6 but I have used the PS5 & it's tracking left a lot to be desired on bass ... in fact all the boss stuff I have used where tracking was involved have been less than great.

I use both a bass whammy and an Akai unibass. I have a one control loop box that sends the signal to the whammy and then to an ABY switch with one output going to a guitar amp. The Akai is in the regular bass pedal board with the mix output also going to the guitar amp. The best way I've found to keep it simple is to use the Akai in line with the other bass effects and when I hit the button....the sound is doubled out of the guitar amp with no change in the bass sound. Hit the other switch and you can add a fourth or a fifth to the guitar tone. I love to sound like more than one person....its awesome when we get to a chorus and "BOOM"

Not tried the PS6, sounds good when the Royal Blood dude uses it, but I have a Pitch Fork and I think it's quite good at that kind of thing. However, the PS6 has separate outputs, which you might enjoy splitting into each amp. I don't use that feature, but since you're using two amps, you might.

Yeah I do split my signal but I usually split it at the tuner bypass out to the bass amp and output to the guitar side of my board.

Two Pitchforks here. Can definitely say it sounds great. Even with amp sims.

Here's a sound excerpt from a song I am working on, I run my bass into a Switchblade+ which splits into two channels. The bass channel is sent into a Zoom B3 with a Sansamp patch and directly into the UI. The guitar channel is sent into a Pitchfork one octave above and into the UI.

For the guitar part I used BIAS FX with two tracks played simultaneously, one with a healthy overdrive the other with a heavy fuzz, both panned about 50% left and right.

The bass part is going through EZMix.

One of the keys to getting this rig to sound half decent is to roll off the high end so that you keep the PF's digital artifacts to a minimum. Note: The higher up the neck you go the easier it is to hear these digital artifacts.

Sadly I didnt record anything using the second pitchfork yet.

I'll chime in as a former ps6 owner who was not impressed by the tracking, the latency killed it for me. The s-bend was cool tho, if money and board space were no objects I'd have it just for that, I was able to nail that 808 drop sound in a way that's impossible on a whammy.
