Fool For Four Strings

Picked this little beauty up a month ago for doing some database work....needed some serious TLC.

A local luthier replaced the nut, repaired the fretboard, lubed the tuners, fabricated pickup rings, custom made two pickups and rewired and shielded the bass.

The outcome is a bass with a beautiful full sound, great looks and high playability factor. We weren't going for a full on restoration. The neck and body were not original to each other.

The final result. I have found two knobs and will take a pic today.

Very Cool. Nice save of what was a very nobel old bass.

I know that Eko Model well. Two high school pals had them in 1967-68.

Two questions. I realize it is not a full-on restore, but didn't these basses have white
pickups? What about knobs?

Please tell us who did the work! Congratulations on a cool bass.

From the research I did, the 995/1 had white hardware, the 995/2 had black. This one had both.

I found a set of round 60's knobs that I put on. I will take some pics when the sun comes out later this morning.

We reused the pots and switch...the wiring is the same as you would find in a Les Paul...shielded good stuff. The pickups were doubled dip to seal them. The pickups were wound to be humbucking...even when using them alone, there is no hum...just cool tone.

The luthiers name is Chad...he has a website going up pretty soon...he's been busy getting my bass and a couple of guitars done to put on when it debuts.

I didn't care about the color...I've been playing the hell out of it. Took a day or so to get used to the tight spacing...but the sounds are out of sight...it's light and oh so playable...sounds like a jazz with more ooomph. When my luthier gets his site up..I'll post it...he is the bomb.
