Electric fretless or EUB?

I've toyed with buying an EUB on and off for a couple of years, am now selling my fretless jazz because I don't like the neck and am not keen on the s-1 switching thing so...

Do I get a fretless Sr5 to complement my fretted one or...

Do I get an EUB, NS design NXT4 type thing...

Am torn because I can get similar sounds from the electric to a degree and it would feel familiar, the EUB would simply be v cool and a great new skill to learn...

Help?

Thanks guys1

Bass and upright are two totally different instruments. That's like asking whether you should get a clarinet or a trumpet.

They really don't sound all that alike, and they certainly don't play with the same techinique.

Eric, you may be slightly overstating the.differences but I can see your point...
I know they're way different from a players perspective in both technique and the finer points of sound but apart from visually can an audience can tell the difference...?

I have four fretless electric basses, one EUB and one carved upright. They are all different basses. I can play the same gig with most of them but they have a different effect on me, my band members and the audience.

Which do you want to play?

Gale

Hi gale, I just got back from 2 weeks away from my bases and I think the answer is...I want both! Not sure which to get first but I do want both!!
