Electrical Question

Would this kind of switch work better?

View attachment 792735

Actually, it is this second switch that would have the problems I was referring to.

The first switch (the Leviton with the rocker actuator) may possibly be better, if it is large enough to have some type of clamp (strain relief) at the cord entrances.

Sorry about confusing the two switches. Looking at it again, the Leviton may be larger than I first thought.

Okay, cool. I appreciate all the advice.

Hey man, got another question for you. I saw this switch in the hardware store and I was thinking of wiring it in:

2X547_AS01

Just noticed the Grainger part # in the attached photo and looked it up.
From the Grainger listing:

"The LEVITON feed-thru inline rocker switch is a 2-position cord switch that accepts 2-wire, 18 AWG SJ and SJT cords up to 0.25" dia. Rated 3A at 125VAC. UL Recognized.

Also has screw terminals, and so should work ok.

The smaller second switch, with the thumbwheel, is definitely not what you want.
