Hey Folks,
Last fall I picked up a set of Elites. The Stadium stainless steel 45-105. The English pound was surprisingly low and I was able to get a set (with a neat Bass Centre embossed bass tuner key chain!
) for essentially the same price with shipping as any string in the US.
I had been curious about the various Elites as many of my favorite British bass players had made the switch from Rotosounds during the 90's and early 00's.
I've gotta say these are decent strings. They hold many similarities to the Rotosound Swing Bass. Twangy and bright. Tension is similar to the Rotos. They seem to be a little more hi fi to my ears then the usual grit and grind of the Rotos that we have all come to love.
Feel wise I would say smoother than D'Addario Pro Steels which I find very rough, even compared to Rotosounds. But maybe not quite a smooth as say a DR Hi Beam? Somewhere in between?
I've had this set on my Geddy Lee Jazz for almost 6 months and they still have a brightness to them. Tuning stability is great and I love the dual silks (blue at the headstock and red at the bridge
)
I was just curious if anyone knows who actually makes them? @michael_t Does the Bass Centre have a facility? I guess I could have reached out them as well. They are quick to respond to emails.
Are any of you using Elites?
Stay healthy y'all,
Brent
