elixir strings

I currently use elixir strings, but I have noticed that they get kind of 'hairy' almost. I really like the long life and clear sound of these strings, but I hate the hariness. Is there an alternate type of strings that has the same life and sound but don't get hairy?

DR Red Devils are pretty good I hear. I use SS strings ( Rotos or Blue Steels) and got a lot of life out of them. Of course I wipe them down every time I play so that helps.

it takes quite some time for the coating to fray, on the sets i have..
