Hi, I have been using elixirs for the last two years and like them, they feel slick and have lasted an absolute age without losing any tone. I have never tried the DR range of coated strings, I was looking at the silver stars as Im unsure of this coloured string thing, it just doesn't rock my boat! Also the DR Bootzillas, as they apparently are clear coated and have a bit more bite. Thoughts please, should I stick with the tried and tested or try the greener grass on the DR side.
Cheers Tony

Since you like the sound of elixers you may not like the sound of DRs. Myself I dislike the sound of elixers, but like the sound of the DR.s.

My sentiments exactly :)

Elixers and DR's sound and feel different for sure. I liked the feel of Elixers, but not the sound. I much prefer DR's coated strings, but they sound less bright and are not as slick so you might not like them.

Bootzillas are about the only coated strings I've tried and liked. From what I understand, they're SS Lo-Riders with coating. Some dry powdery stuff comes off when they're brand new, but they hold their tone for quite a while, definitely more bite than either Black Beauties or Elixirs.
