EMBB Caprice/Cutlass & Fender Dimension, Why they didn't catch on.

Funny thing is, I ran the rack on active EBMM's, even bought & played a Big Al 5 for about a year but couldn't bond with any of them. I had my Precision V which rocked but the Country thing seemed to need an almost studio processed tone and I wanted that sound. Stumbled upon a Dimension 5 Deluxe in a music store on an out of town gig and looked for one locally and got lucky. I bonded with it right away and it's worked well for me for Country, rock or Herb Alpert type stuff. It sounds like a Fender bass and supports the music nicely. An active bass always seems to need a bit more amp & cab behind it tho'. No matter the venue. I had even greater success with it when we ran it into the Bose System. It had that tone, the depth and never walked on any other part of the music.

I used Ernie Ball strings (fluorescent yellow pack 130-45). Just switched out for DR Sunbeams for the heck of it. I love my Dimension almost as much as my Precision V.

IMO it's probably one of the most comfortable fivers out there. And I personally love the look and the feel. Soundwise I still prefer the passive 4-string models, but that's me.

And with the many beefs about the width of a Precision V's neck, the Dimension's 5'er neck is a good feel.

I have both. I use the Fender with LaBella flats for recording all the time. Live sometimes. I use the Cutlass with rounds live on many occasions. It's the most comfortable bass to play on those 3 to 4 hour gigs.

The Cutlass is a phenomenal bass. Fit and finish is perfect. I'm fine with EB stopping production of the Cutlass. Simply means that it will be worth more in the future.

Only P Bass I would like to get in addition would be a G&L LB100. But it would have to be silver metal flake with an ebony neck.

That Cutlass looks sweet!! Adding the G&L would make a great trio of Pbasses. And a big to the idea of silver metal flakes and ebony board. drool

Well, the LB100 hasn't happened yet, but I couldn't resist this Precision Bass last week at Guitar Center. I played it next to a brand new Fender players series. The Squier Classic Vibe blew it away and for $399 along with a 15% off coupon, I couldn't resist! Damn you GAS!!!!!
