EMG 35DC pickup too hot

Hey so I recently had the EMG 35DC installed in my Fleabass and the sound is way off. It sounds like the pickup is overcharged or something, like there is some kind of distortion on it. Does anyone know any solutions to this problem? If anyone has a link to a video or something that might help that'd be very much appreciated too.

EMG DC's are Hot- try not having the volume all the way up as you don't get tone rolloff with volume rolloff like with passive pickups. Also, too much boost (especially bass) just sends the signal strength over the top for some setups. it's better to use tone cut for balance on the bass, then boost as needed on the amp.
