EMG 35DC vs 35DCX

So I have a fleabass and I want to upgrade it. It seems that everyone that has this bass replaces the pickup for the EMG 35DC. I love the demos I've seen but I was wondering, if the X series is supposed to be better why hasn't anyone put a 35DCX in a fleabass? Is there any reason not to put a 35DCX in a fleabass?

The "X" series pickups have the same coils as the non-X original versions of the pickups, but with a different preamp that extends the frequency response both higher and lower. I perceive them as being "brighter."

In any artist-signature bass, the bass will be made a certain way. That does not mean any particular component is better or worse than any other component that could be used, just that the design specs called for it that way.

So are you saying that the the 35DCX just won't work with a fleabass?

No. Not at all. It might work great. But if the DC is the spec'd pickup, unless the factory approves a design change, they will continue to be made with DC's, not DCX, even though that might sound great in the bass.
