EMG BTC SYS compatibility

Hi Guys,

According to EMG info the BTC SYS preamp is exclusive to work with EMG PUs.

But I heard from a fellow TBer that he used the BTC preamp (not sure if is also SYS) with a pair of SSB4 PUs, which are the same PUs I plan to put in my bass.

Questions are:
Is it possible to install SSB4s with a BTC SYS preamp? Will it work fine? Does it need any special work to set up? Would one 9 volt battery be enough?

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

the EMG "systems" are just the EMG preamps pre-wired with 25k volume and blend controls. the preamps themselves (sold as "controls" rather than "systems") will take passive pickups just fine.

A little clarification........... EMG's preamps, by themselves, can be used with active or passive pickups.
EMG "systems" include an active/buffered blend circuit which can only be used with their active pickups.
