EMG for Dean Edge?

Measure the size of the current P'up. EMG's website provides measurements for all the pickups they sell. Get one that either matches or is damn close.
I put EMG 35P and 35J that match the EMG HZ
size with the BTC preamp and it sounds great, big improvement
over the stock pickups and no routing (or cavity) mods

The preamps in them, I don't find that great, but I do like the pups themselves....(run passive)
If you'd like to try some experimenting first before a pup or preamp purchase, you can try what I did (that I really love)
- I gutted it completely, and wired it using a Jazz Bass wiring diagram Vol/Vol/Tone
- put a fake switch (producer's switch ala Lee Sklar), that can fool even the best producers - hahaha, in the remaining hole
I swear I can flick that non-connected switch, and producer's will say..."I like it better in the down position" - hahahaha!!!!!
Just an idea, I really love my Edge now.

Just an idea, I really love my Edge now.
I replaced the stock p'ups in a Dean Edge Select 5 a few years ago, I put in EMG 40DC in the neck and a 40CS in the bridge and ran them with 2 9V batteries in parallel to extend battery life. Hooked them up with independent volume and tone controls, no preamp. They sounded great and the Vol/Tone combo for each p'up made it really flexible, like an old Jazz bass with a ton of balls. Wish I still had that bass, lightest 5er I ever played.
The bass required no modification, the EMGs dropped right in and since I didn't run a preamp there was plenty of space for the 2 batteries.

Check the EMG Website...the dimentions for each pup should be in the Product Data Sheets - PDF (right side of page near bottom)
Then you can measure your pup.....I know on my dean the pup routes are very deep, that I added about half inch of foam, so there should be some play, you will most likely want to raise it.
Get some foam...my pups originally came with the cheap springs, which you could hear when tapping on the bass...those are kinda awful, and could sometimes be heard when playing acoustically on some notes...so go foam instead....I bought a letter size sheet at the $ store and cut into pieces, and added as many as I needed....no more spring noise.
