EMG Geezer Problems

I have a set of EMG Geezer P Bass pups and am having a problem. I will be playing the bass and all the sudden I loose sound on my E and some times A string. Then if I hit the pup it will usually come back on. Any ideas? All help will be appreciated. I will pull it apart tomorrow to check for loose connections. Thanks

Well at least you know where to go looking.
BCS the connectors just need to be pushed on farther. (Seems highly unlikely they could work their own way loose. Maybe they got installed that way by accident?)
The most hopeful likely scenario I can think of is one of the wires chafing against a pickup screw. Replacing that would be easy as pie. (I think I even wound up with a spare when I did my install last week.)
If the prongs on the pickup coil or the wiring inside are compromised, you might have to replace the whole coil. (Still easy, but maybe not so cheap.)
I liked using those solder-less connections, but it did seem a little awkward, trying to cram it all into the rout. I trimmed my mounting foam to put less pressure on everything.

Some people just cut the pickup leads and splice into the existing wiring.

Yeah, I finally found a post that said if you lined the area with foil tape I may just need to remove that. Something about it interferes with the signal or something. Thanks for feed back.

As long as no hot wire is grounding out on the shielding, I don't see why shielding the cavity under the pickup would be a problem.

I would assume the quick-release wiring clip is pulled partially out. When installing the pickup make sure you aren't using too much foam for the job that it is putting undue pressure on the clip connection, and also make sure you aren't pulling the wire into the control cavity once installed which could pull the connector out. I've seen this with pickups with these connectors a few times. Foil lining in the cavity shouldn't be an issue if the clip connectors are all tight because there wouldn't be an exposed hot connection to ground out (on soldered pickups the solder joints are usually exposed so this could be an issue, shouldn't be with the GZR pickups)

+1 for checking the quick release clip.
Those clips are super convenient but they can be dislodged during installation or lined up wrong. I would look under the pickup, remove clip and put it back on carefully, see if a simple “off and on again” fixes any contact issues.
