EMG GZR P Series/Parallel pot

Hey, has anyone successfully wired the P pickup with a series/parallel switch? I just bought the EMG 500k solderless push/pull pot for this, but it was designed with dual coil humbuckers in mind rather than split coils. I called them today and the rep on the phone said it's not possible. I'll be returning the pot if that's the case, but first I wanted to check here to see if it in fact has been done, and if so if it was with this specialty pot.

The pot was $90 so if it's only possible with hardwiring, it'd still be cheaper for all new pots than this solderless was alone.

Bumping this as I’m sure someone else out there may be interested at some time. Also has anyone successfully hardwired the P pickup as series/parallel?

The $90 EMG pot did work, sort of, but the pickup sounded very different in series or parallel vs a standard 500k pot with the pickup in series. I ended up returning it.
 
Wow I'm surprised no one else chimed in on this, as will now know, series/parallel is possible on any p pickup, you just need to cut the wire that joins the two halves, I have successfully hard wired a Duncan SPB-2 in parallel, it is wound super hot so it sounds pretty good in parallel.

I’ll have to take a look again what I felt was missing. Maybe I was just avoiding cutting the wire if I didn’t need to but I thought I remembered there being 1 less lead than other passive pickups making this a little more of a head scratcher.

The GZR is epoxy sealed, and we don't know how the pins are wired internally. There are no labels for DG+ or DG-, and it's certainly not marketed to the tinkering type. However.....

Based on the diagrams in the instructions, either the first and third pins (ground and EA-), or second and fourth (hot and EA+) *might* correspond to DG- and DG+, respectively. A multimeter should give you about 5.5KΩ DC resistance across whichever pins are the ones you want, and no continuity at all across any other combo. If they're wired this way, then splitting one end of a two-pin quick connector, or using two separate one-pin connectors, will let you take advantage of that.

When you figure out which pins (if any) give you the DG coil's +/-, you can use the EA coil's connector and the "custom" connector you made for the DG coil as your "two pickups" or "two coils" for the series/parallel push/pull pot.

These are "educated guesses," and I make no promises that any of it will work. It's possible that the the internal wiring prevents you from accessing one of the DG coil ends, in which case it's physically impossible to get parallel wiring.

Ok, I haven't used the EMG GZR P pickup but usually there will be a hot and a ground wire and the two halves will be joined with a wire connecting them and you would cut that wire in the middle so that you have a ground and a hot wire for each pickup, the wire joining the two halves on the Seymour Duncan SPB-2 was very short so i ended up soldering a piece of wire onto the wires to extend them.
