EMG help?

Hi all. I have a set of EMG's (the HB bass pickups) that I purchased a few years back (they were B stock).
I installed them, only to realize one pickup is not working. I switched them out bridge to neck, neck to bridge with the same results. It is a 3 pin fast connection version. I am wondering " is there some way to open the pickup without destroying it?"
I feel like there must be a unconnected wire or something inside.

Welp... that was easy. I tried a fresh battery. what do you know? the pickup worked! Im a doofus, but never used active pickups before.
