Yes but which ones for my particular bass
all of the emg pickups are solderless and really, really easy to install, plus they give you pots, cables and everything you need in the pickup box, the issues could be:If you’re asking this question, then consider getting someone else to install the pickup.
DIMENSIONS: The pickup will fit in the cavity. You’ll be fine.
WIRING: You’ll need to fit a battery under the control plate if you go active and replace all wiring. This is an easy job but you need some soldering skill
Yes, what about the Jack?all of the emg pickups are solderless and really, really easy to install, plus they give you pots, cables and everything you need in the pickup box, the issues could be:
- dimensions => emg pickups have been created as direct replacement for US made basses (I don't know if squier uses the same sizes, that's why I suggest to mesure before he buys anything)
- battery fit in control cavity => super easy mod if you chose the DIY way or super cheap if let a luthier do the job
Yes, what about the Jack?
stereo jack connector included in emg pick packaging (and it's solderless too, check their website)Yes, what about the Jack?
EMG Solderless kits come with spade connectors for the jack connections.
Incidentally I'm a big advocate for the 12v A27 in EMG kits if you don't have a battery box routed already.
Is that an actual kit from EMG? Never saw that on their website or mentioned in the instructions.
Yes, it's part of the stock kit that comes with any of their pickups these days. Pulled this from the J Set (not J System) page just as an example. Spade connectors bottom right.

Mine are old enough that they came with pre-wired pots rather than solderless and did need the jack soldering.
Cool! How does an a27’s service hours compare to a high quality 9-volt’s?
I would call their customer service. they are top notch, very responsive, and tend to go the extra mile. if you add something to your cart, create an account, and wait a day, you will likely get a 10% off code as well.I have ave a Squire VM 5 Jazz bass. Anyone happen to know which EMG pickups will
