I bought a stagg bass as a beginner bass and the neck was made out of 2 pieces of wood and broke into 2 separate pieces, it was rubbish anyway in comparison to my mates squier. So ive been looking for a new bass on ebay and i have seen this one, http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/J-D-Ovankol-through-neck-active-Link Removed, on ebay and it claims to have EMG pickups, but they are not branded apparently because of import reasons can anyone tell me if they think they could be EMGs, and if they were what that would mean for me over another no name brand of active pickup, and also if they know a better bass to buy for around £300
Thanks alot for your time
Giles

They don't look like any Link Removed I've ever seen, I'll tell you that.

Link Removed

EMG soapbar shape bass pickups have two screw holes, not four.

FWIW:

some bass maker (want to say Lakland but I really don't remember) is putting out basses without EMG logo's on them. This came in a thread within the last couple of weeks. I'd never seen them but it was confirmed. I was thinking they looked like their standard EMG soaps without the logo but they may have looked like mainstream soaps.

A search may bring it up. I'm guessing if you punched in EMG or maybe even pickups (if the search engine will take it - doesn't like short words) and my screenname (since I know I responded to it) it would be in the last 25 posts, closer to 25 proably. It wasn't a long thread, maybe 7 responses. Seems there were pics too.
