If I purchase two EMG 35DC pickups and mount them with the two knobs that come with each. Could I use a separate battery for each and connect the outputs to the jack? Or couls I connect the battery and still use the seperat volume and tone controls?

EMG Setup Question

The batteries need to be in series. And, to use the output jack to open/close the circuit, I can't see how a battery to each pup is possible. You can run them 18v in series.

What I'm considering is purchasing the two pickups only and not the separate controls. If I could use the controls that come with the pickups I would have seperate volumes and tone for each pickup. If I could wire the battery connection together I could save that space or I could use separate batteries, I have the room. This would be a cost saving deal.
DB, I doubt your current volume pots are the correct recommended values; 25K ohm for their active pups. So minimally you'll need a couple of those. If you don't have a TRS type stereo jack in the bass you'll need one-o-them too so the batteries are connected only while a plug is inserted.
As far as passive TT, I don't see a published diagram. Doesn't mean it can't be done though. Hit EMG support with an email. They usually respond same day.
Sounds like you're not getting the battery thing. I suggest you study the pickup installation diagram. You can run all EMG stuf with a single 9v or 2x 9vs in series which delivers 18v. Individual pups, preamps, etc do not require a dedicated battery.
Easiest, no solder install for this would be to add their BTS System; VVTT, remove the old stuff, install the new, slide on the connectors.
You might consider having a tech do the install if the diagrams appear daunting to you.

There's no point in having separate batteries for each pickup. Whether you choose to use one (9v) or two (18v) batteries, just run both pickups off the same battery connector, going to the same output jack.
I'm afraid I don't see what the connection is between that and separate volume/tone controls.

Trying again. I want to purchase and install two pickups. Each pickup comes with a volume and tone controls. I want to save the expense of another set of controls if I can and use the ones supplied.
Ah, so there were really two questions! 
I can't think of any reason why you couldn't use the volume and tone controls that come supplied, if you don't need to have an active EQ. The simplest setup would be with two volume controls and a master tone (Jazz bass wiring). If you want separate tone controls for each pickup, it looks like it gets more complicated to use the standard EMG wiring harnesses.
There are a bunch of wiring diagrams on the EMG site but the most relevent one is probably the tone control diagrams Link Removed .
