Eminence Delta 15A fell apart.

Anybody ever had this happen? Loading out after a show last night and heard something rattling around. Took the bottom speaker off (215) and found the magnet assembly sheared off of the cone assembly.
Looks like the glue seal was maybe compromised? Letting some moisture in.
Speakers were bought new 4 years ago.

That cab was definitely dropped.
We have a couple of Yorkville LS18P subs that are extremely heavy and have a casters built into the back with a handle to tilt them back when moving them. Our keyboard player was moving one and hit a crack in the sidewalk. he lost it and it fell backwards on it's back. When we sat it back up we heard something moving around. The magnet had become separated from the basket much like yours.

Yeah man, I had this happen a couple of years ago in my early '90's Ampeg 810. I heard something rattling inside while I transported it and lo and behold one of the magnets just fell off the speaker. Easy fix for a repair shop that I know, they just glued it back in and presto, it works. Some time later another failed like that so I fixed that one up too and never had a problem with them or other ones. Been over 5 years since that happened, too.

Rarely do these repairs work long term, you got very lucky.

That’s the thing, nobody had handled this cab but me. We’ve had the occasional bumpy ride across cobblestone or the dreaded “dragging up stairs” from time to time, but no significant falls.

Anyway, anyone have a recommendation for a replacements in an old v6b 215 cab?

It happens, you may not have been aware of the incident either.

How about the same driver that’s already in there?

In 30 years with this PA co, we’ve seen a few JBLs do this. Glued on motor structure, very strong assembly, but they were victims of being dropped.

Instant recycling fodder.

One of the techs thought he could repair one that broken like this. I said “if you can fix it, you can have it. Just let me know if you have any luck”

He never said anything else about it. And I didn’t ask…. 😁
