Eminence Legend CA10 drivers

In order to make that recommendation I would need the cab dimensions, wall thickness and vent dimensions.
all are approx inside dimensions swr workingman 210 (w piezo i will prolly disconnect) 14.75 h x 21 w x 14.5 d
shelf 7/8 h x 21 w x 3 d
also stumbled into these too
magnet is allegedly 40oz vs 50
freq resp & sens are close
f 's are a little different
the magnet has a bump-out kinda like a bp102
and frames look aluminum, which may be good for heat dissapation
anyone ever head of or tried these, price is nice too

sorry if we hi-jacked your thread

The Dayton is the least expensive 10 with reliable published specs that I am aware of. The MCM drivers (very?) often do not meet their published specs. If you read the reviews you will find that this one is significantly less efficient, has a higher FS and a much higher Qts. The result is less volume for a given amount of power and prodigious amounts of soft, boomy bass if you design a cab using the MCM specs. The driver is incapable of articulate bass or even fat, punchy bass. in any reasonable size cab This is ok if you need a driver like that. Some TBer's are pleased with the performance of the MCM drivers. Tone preference is strictly personal. Play and enjoy what you like.

Your cab will work pretty well with the Daytons, plug-n-play. It will have fairly fat and punchy bass, and the deep bass fundamentals can be brought into play with a little low bass boosting. You should not have to boost the bass to get a nice rich tone. The only weakness is that the cab will be excursion limited to about 300w between 60 & 85 Hz. For many players that would be a non-issue. If you like 'lots' of bass and routinely boost the bass a lot, this will likely be an issue.

A pair of 10FE200-4's in series would provide the 8 ohms you're looking for, but they may or may not work well in that cab. What is the internal volume (or dimensions) of the cab and number and dimensions of any porting? Also, what kind of tone are you looking for: mid-dominant, fat, punchy, aggressive, etc.

thinking of modding a swr goliath 210 into a sealed cab to run under a v-4 maybe the sc2010 (i think it is would be a little more low end handling?
any thoughts?

These drivers are similar in a number of ways. Both have TS parameters tailored to sealed cab use. Both have similarly extended highs (4k Hz for the Eminence: 5k Hz for the Faital), allowing full range use. They appear to have similar Xmax specs, but for the Eminence it's a hard limit, while for the Faital it's more transitional. They have similar Xlim. Both can be overdriven, but distortion rapidly increases above Xmax for the eminence, and gradually increases for the Faital. Some players have a preference for one or the other, while many don't notice it. Both have very similar thermal power handling specs. The Faital has audibly smoother mids and highs, which may or may not be desirable for your preferred tone. The Faital sounds a little 'hifi' relative to the Eminence. The Eminence is about 1.3 pounds lighter. Both good quality, cost effective drivers.

Thays all right on the money. I have/had cabs with both. The eminence outperform the faital in a sealed cab, real world.

Glad you found a driver/cab combination that you prefer. Provided that a driver/cab combination meets a players spl, and weight/size requirements, a person needs to decide which tone they like the most. I prefer the S2010 in a ported cab to either of these options. That doesn't make it 'the best'. It's just what I like.

what about a modded 210 w/ emi alpha 10's.. 8 plus 8 = 4
Sealed in a modded swr goliath (formally shelf vented) mid sized cab on top of a 610 <4ohm> ampeg (which seems to lack alot of desirable frequencies) goin as low as drop c# at present.. would the sc2010(s) be better for this as well? any speculation(s) appreciated!

None of these 10's are going to provide good low fundamentals in 1 cf sealed, but they will do a good job of covering the second harmonic. If the Ampeg 610 provides decent bass, then adding a 210 at the top that has more prominent mids would be helpful. However, the 210 would siphon a lot of power away from the 610. A couple efficient mids and a horn in a small cab located on top of the 610, and crossed over to the 610 would be a more effective approach.

I'm not trying to stop the flow of information but, this thread was started to see who is using the ca10 drivers and so far, we've talked about everything but. I do love the input, just was hoping someone was using the ca10.

ok, so no ca10 for me then (sealed or open).. lol
really appreciate all the help ya'llz..
maybe a different thread would be better kringle77.. (will try to look)
this one drummer's jam spot has a 610 ampeg (4ohm i think) there and I don't use much of the tweets (turned way down for me) and the cab seems a little boomy.
maybe a 4ohm 1-15 on top would be a better bet? for a total load of 2 ohms (4+4=2) maybe someone can recommend me a different thread for this issue?

JGR stated in the second post these are relacements for SWR's. There's even cab specs on the Eminence website if you wanted to clone one.
I'm not sure I'd go through the trouble working with these when there are lots of speakers offering better performance.

is that swr cab they are supposedly replacements for, that you are referring to ported or sealed?
thanx fast slapper? p
