Right now I'm running 2 Eminence delta 12", 8 ohm drivers in an old mid 70's Ampeg V-4 cab. I also just found and ordered a new (used) set of Celestion 12", 8 ohm pulse bass speakers to complete the cabinet. I'm mainly a Rickenbacker bass player 4001, 4003 basses with an occasional appearance by one of my jazz basses. The 74 4001 has hi gain pickups in the bridge and neck positions. The 96 4003 has been modified. I installed the .047 Ric cap on thd bridge tone pot to get "that" old Ric clank. I then installed a new style horseshoe pickup in the bridge and removed the cover. I then installed a toaster neck pickup. Both basses also have been fitted with the Badass 1 bass bridge. (I can put both basses back to normal by reinstalling the orig bridge. I run Rotosound round wound stainless steel strings on all of my basses. The fenders also have badass bridges and Rotosound round wound stainless steel strings also. I had a pickup maker from texas design a set of j bass pickups that come very close to that Ric strong mid-range presence and clarity of a Ric pickup. I also run an old Sunn S-200 tube head and cab with 2-jbl 15" drivers. I run all basses through a Sansamp RPM rack mount preamp. The head for the 4-12" cab is either an old Marshall JTM 45 or a Laney GH 50 L. I get either Geddy Lee's tone with the 74 Ric or j basses or i get Paul De Amour's tone ( from old Tool, think sober) with the 96 4003. Wow! I just went the LONG way around to say that the Eminence 12's sound wonderful and clear. The 15" JBL's are always running completely clean and dry. I get the thundering lows out of them. The 12's always run with some OD and or FX. The Eminences handle it all very well. I'm praying that the Celestion pulse speakers will turn out to be a good compliment to the Eminence speakers. Not many bass players use 12's. They have no idea what they are missing! If you don't run 15's, the best thing i can say is they have the attack of the 10's and the warm depth of the 15's. I'll never run another 10" speaker in my chain again. If I don't feel like lugging around the 15's, the 12's cover the Terrain of both 10 and 15 inch speakers easily. You can't go wrong with the Eminence 12's. Period!
