New Room Day.

Well, my youngest daughter moved out and now my wife and I find we have a new use for her old bedroom. We're turning it into a music/meditation/yoga room.

I moved some of my music equipment into the room to see how I might lay it out for practice/writing/recording. We are going to install new carpet and paint, along with wall hangings, tapestries, new lighting, etc. Something to enhance the ambiance and Feng Shui. I still have a full 88 key Roland EP-9 electric piano and a small synth to put in there.

It'll be nice to have my own space where I can lock the door when the grandkids come over. Just getting started.
I'll probably end up hanging the basses on the wall, but I'm going to wait on that until my wife decides how she wants it first. ;):laugh:

Congrats on the new room! I have had mine for three years and it keeps evolving. These pictures are from a couple of months ago. There are already things that have changed since then. (Most notably, I got a wooden 6-bass stand that has cleaned up the area in front of the book shelves a little bit.) I call it my "Den of Geek". I have all of my sci-fi/fantasy and music stuff in here.

We still have one kid at home, and when he leaves, the wife gets his room to do what she wants with. :cool:

My music studio has evolved over time.

It went from my music/podcasting studio in the lower level of the house...

Which my wife needed as her home office, so then I moved it into a corner of the living room...

So...when my daughter moved out I now will have a music room...still shared, but at least I'll have a dedicated room for it, which of course will change over time.

Here's the rest of the view, dual 27" 4K monitors! So much control surface real estate!

Monitors need to go left aa foot or so, then the monitor speakers mount just above and outside the video monitors.

Having a devil of a time finding a new pc - that one isn't Windows 11 capable. Sigh. And I need one with 2 DisplayPort outputs now. Any ideas?

My daughter split time between two households from age 2 to 18 and for the last four of those years, since the pandemic landed us in Southern Oregon, I have used her room as my music space in her absence or that of guests. Recently it became clear that my 12- and 7-year-old boys need their own spaces, so middle man moved into big sister's old room (though he'll bunk with little guy when big sister visits).

Man, I miss having that room 😆

I have no doubt you'll properly appreciate yours!

Maybe. Is there some sort of tutorial or recipe to follow? I used to be into that kind of stuff, but that was many generations ago now...

Very nice. One suggestion......the Weird Al poster should be displayed a little more prominently!:laugh:

I've been married for over 25 years, four children and four grandchildren. "This ain't my first rodeo". ;)

You know the saying, "If you build it, they will come"? It's more like "If you build it, they will come back."

My kids are up and out, but they still visit fairly often, so I can't ask them to sleep among a tangle of wires.

I'm still in the unfinished basement. Nothing fancy, no posters on the wall, but I have good de-humidification and lighting. My wife uses one of the kids' rooms as a still life photo studio, but that breaks down fast when the need arises.

I don't often get in trouble but when I do, I get sent to the paint room with my Roland hand drum for a time out.
