Double Bass End pin cap size?

If the endpin tip is not threaded, the little rubber caps will either a) come off in transport or b) wear out and allow the tip to poke through. Either way, sooner or later somebody's floor is going to suffer damage.

I was never able to find a crutch tip or something similar at a hardware store that would work worth beans. This ball gizmo from Invalid Link Removed is a perfect solution.

We bought this one, but my daughter can't get it to work.

Can you elaborate, Vonda?

Do you not have threads on your end-pin? If that's the case, you can drill just enough of a detent in the end-pin for the point of the large screw to settle into. (You can do that even if you do have threads.) I did that, and I put a dab of blue LocTite on the threads of all three screws to keep them from unscrewing. It never came off until I wanted it to.

Sorry I wasn't aware my mother was on the damn internet again, but I'm her daughter I'll elaborate. The the darn thing just will not stay on, and I think its mainly because actual hole where the end pin tip goes in is not deep enough. The tip barely goes in, and the screws from the end pin ball don't really make contact with the threaded part of my end pin.

Also if it would have worked, it still would have been annoying because I mainly use the tip for transport and remove it when I play (I play seated and mainly use the Dycem Black Hole. It's Amazing). We were able to buy a replacement tip from Steve.
