Double Bass End pin rubber cap

Yep. Loctite on the threads. I added some nearly two years ago and still on tight.

I've been using the Wolf endpin ball attachment happily for years now; love it, except for one caveat: the rubber balls wear out too bloody quickly! I corresponded with (very gracious) Wolf directly about this, but some years ago now. At that time, proprietary replacement rubber balls were not available for purchase, and I'm not finding any evidence online about whether these rubble balls have become separately available. Does anyone here happen to know anything further...? Also, I'm experimenting rebuilding one with a rubber adhesive; has anyone here tried this, successfully or not...? Thanks, ;)

I haven‘t found a replacement ball either. Lifespan experience is similar.
But I think the most damage comes from setting the bass down and maybe pulling it over abrasive surfaces during transport. So have a different rubber for transport and change on stage.
I used the metal part from the damaged ball with a cello endpin rubber. Needs to be changed with the metal part because you hardly get the cello rubber off once you have managed to put it on.
But any other endpin rubber would do as well for transport. I often use an old rubber disk for transport.

Maybe several coats of PLASTI DIP? They say it’s a non-slip rubber coating.

Thanks for the tip here, Michael! I'm of course checking it out ;)

OK...found a single dipping can of this product, black in color. Something just like this is what I'd imagined would be a great solution, if it existed...and here it is, it does! Thanks so much for the tip, Michael! So far, so good; like chocolate dipped strawberries, or one of those chocolate dipped ice cream cones..I'll do at least two, if not three coats...or four..? The shaker pins btw I also happened upon at the hardware; with these, dipping is so easy...

How has that been working out for you? Amazon has the plasti dip can for $20. I imagine you have to reapply every so often.

Hi, bobsax - so far, SO GOOD, I'm happy to say. The wear&tear has been less, much better than expected. Also, no sticking issues with instrument; as good if not improved. I bought mine @ Ace hardware for a bit less than $20, btw. ;)
I also purchased a can of VM&P naphtha, to thin it up as needed occasionally.

That is great to hear thank you Jazzwalk. My bass came with a really good extra-large endpin tip but after 20 years, the rubber has dried out a bit and become slippery. Hopefully the rubber dip will stop any more slipping

I forgot to mention; be sure to clean and dry your rubber tip thoroughly before dipping. I used some denatured alcohol (ethanol), to be extra sure...:cool:.
PS - Also, I found three 5 second dips as directed, for three coats, was enough. Allow a couple of hours in between each dipping, for an optimum result.
